Pros and Cons of Living in Orlando
|Orlando is home to many people. It’s the seat of adventure and offers thrills, beautiful locations, and plenty of things to do for everyone in the family. It also just so happens to be the home of incredible attractions like Disney World and Universal Studios. Understandably, many people want to make this exciting place their home. Yet, as with most places, there are both positives and negatives to consider before making the move. Here are a few things to consider if you’re thinking about moving to Orlando, Florida.
1. No Winter Weather
While the weather in Florida can sometimes get chilly, it’s rare for snow to actually collect on the ground. This can be a dream come true to many who are moving from snowy states. No longer will you have to worry about changing your summer tires to winter tires. No longer will you have icy conditions to consider when traveling to work or school. Instead, you’ll only experience cool Orlando temperatures when it comes to the winter. Otherwise, you can expect the warm sun and blue sky conditions for most of your days in Orlando.
2. A Welcoming Community
Orlando sees a lot of new people moving into the area constantly. As a result, residents are used to new people showing up every now and then. The community as a whole is quite welcoming and warm towards new families and singles. They’ll likely be able to give you tips on surviving in Orlando, too. Because of its tourist intake, the area has a mixed demographic. You’re sure to see people of various backgrounds all working together to create a stable and welcoming community.
3. Close To Big Attractions
Perhaps one of the biggest positives of living in Orlando is that you’re right there where all of the big attractions are located. Every time there’s an event being held at Disney or Universal, you have a chance to go. Instead of living hours away from them, you’re only a few minutes. This can make your Disney trips a lot more affordable and convenient. You can also go during the times of the year where Disney isn’t as busy. This lets you have a more relaxed experience when visiting.
4. Traffic
Because of the close proximity to the big attractions, you are going to be in a lot of traffic. That’s one negative of living in Orlando. Everyone is either driving towards Disney or Universal or one of the other big attractions. A way to help yourself is to choose a home that isn’t on the way to those attractions and parks. If you live downtown or on the outskirts of downtown, you’re going to be in less traffic than those who live on or near the main highways to get to the parks. Traffic congestion can also make moving more difficult. Luckily, you can use furniture movers in Orlando who knows the lay of the land to help get your personal belongings safely to your new home.
5. Hot Summers
The tradeoff for warm winters is that you also receive hot summers. Florida can be muggy. If you’re not a fan of hot and humid weather, then Orlando might not be the best fit for you. Or you might want to think about having a summer residence outside of Florida for refuge. Of course, there are plenty of ways to cool off from the summer heat. Florida is surrounded by ocean, and Orlando is only a short drive away from some of the best beaches Florida has to offer.
